COMPETITION TIME
To celebrate my launch of AN AUTUMN CRUSH I'm going to be giving away 2 Autumn Crush gift sets - a book, a bookbag and a gorgeous autumnal bookmark - one with a leaf, one with an acorn.
All you have to do it post on my blog a one sentence answer to this question: Which character in my books do you like the most - and why? The winners will be the ones that make me smile the most. Competition ends next Monday (26th) at midnight. Winners names will be posted on the blog for them to contact me with their postal details.
Good luck :)

Christie Somers, because I think she's lovely and I'd like to be like her.
ReplyDeleteLou Winter, because of the way she de-clutters her life, harnesses her talents, believes in herself and starts afresh. :-)
ReplyDeleteLou Winters..for having the courage to change everything in her life and encouraged me to clear all the clutter in my home and feeling better for it :)
ReplyDeleteI like them all , so this is really hard , but I think Olive cos she got out of her rut & got her dream man :)
ReplyDeleteI think I would pick Venice from "Here come the girls." I think she is such a strong character! She hasn't had the best of times but still has time to care for and worry about all her friends. I hope I'm half as nice as she is!
ReplyDeleteI would say Ven from Here Comes the Girls, like to make sure all my friends are ok and looked after
ReplyDeleteVenice would be my choice, she's such a strong lovely character. She hasn't had the best time of it and yet still manages to have time for her friends when they really need help, even if they don't know it at the time.
ReplyDeleteI would pick Stevie Honeywell - as i can relate (a little) to her as I am also a Single Mum and some of the struggles that involves.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth from The Yorkshire Pudding Club, as you want to give her a cuddle and tell her everything will be alright, secretly knowing that she will make a wonderful mum.
ReplyDeleteWhat a question - so many to choose from.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading A Summer Fling I fell in love with Al Holly and Nikita Koslov and I love Christie's confidence.
However, I have to say I loved Grace. I loved her unconditional love for her children and the fact that she may be in her 50's but she's just about to rediscover life.
Lou Winters in A Spring Affair - I just wish I had the confidence to hire a big skip to de-clutter my hubbies junk, my in-laws are de-cluttering their home and yes...Its ending up at mine! But unless I want to start world war 3 its a case of shut up or put up! Think I need to seriously grow a pair...!
ReplyDeleteIt has to be Anna from A Summer Fling, I relate to her so much I just need to find my vampire! Rachel Taylor xx
ReplyDeleteAlthough I loved all of the characters in your books for me the one I love the
ReplyDeleteMost has to be lou winter so down to earth that she could be the woman living
Next door love how she decluttered her house and her life and achieved her dream that gives me hope
My favourite character is Ven from Here Come the Girls. She is like the friends fairy godmother, helping fix problems they weren't even aware of (especially for Olive), which is something we all need at times.
ReplyDeleteDawn from a summer fling - because she's the one you want to grab and shake and scream at to go with her heart, all the while knowing that SHE thinks she is. She just wants to be loved, before she finally realises it is essential to BE in love to be truly loved back and feel what that is really like. And to be honest, putting up with The Sisters-in-law From Hell, she bloody deserves to be the nations favourite character! :)
ReplyDeleteThey are all fab because being a Barnsley lass each of them reminds me a little of someone I know - I do love Ven though, I want her to be my friend..but can I have Lou too so I can have hugs & purv Tom Broom???
ReplyDeleteI know lots of others have said it, but I think it would have to be Lou Winter for me too - every now and then I start to de-clutter (my house, my life, my cyber-life) but I never quite get there, Lou inspires me to keep going back to try again!!!
ReplyDeleteMaggiemou xx
I like Vladimir Darq best as he is a celebrity who has chosen to make Barnsley his home, he knows how to make clothes that babes want, he falls in love with Anna and he hangs about in Barnsley bus station ( I know this because I have seen him ).
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing I looked at the post again because of your Tweet about it as I made a comment the first day but can't see it anymore. I don't know what I did wrong :(
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question: There's a few characters that spring to mind, but at the moment I'd have to say Stevie Honeywell from the Birds and the Bees because she's such an inspiring person. And, I admit, because she's a novelist. I am not an author myself but it certainly is one of the skills I wish I had I am always interested in reading about characters that do have that occupation.
Also, those are the most gorgeous bookmarks I've ever seen! x
I think everyone should have a mum/grandma/sister or friend like Grace as she is a good listener, helpful and kind whilst being non judgemental-she reminds me of my lovely mum, sadly no longer here.
ReplyDeleteCaptain Nigel from Here Come The Girls - only a true gent would not tell Ven what her Italian translated into English was for 6 months!
ReplyDeleteJaney is my role model - she worships cake, looks cool in frilly Adam Ant shirts, and even remembers Cozy Powell's flying fingers. (That didn't quite sound how I meant it to, if Cozy's wife is reading this...)
ReplyDeletei would have to say Lou Winters - she was so brave to attack her life and declutter, wish i could have that approach - the house needs to declutter for a start!
ReplyDeleteDoreen from 'Here Come the Girls' she was waited on hand and foot until the love of her life came and whisked her away. You can't get much better than that!
ReplyDeleteDawn from 'A summer fling' - Such a warm character, unsure and vulnerable with a need to help the people she cares about be happy. A true star.
ReplyDeleteDawn Coupe, Sheffield. x
Oh, it sooo has to be Olive: she certainly wasn’t ‘barking up the wrong tree’ when she ditched the baggage and went back to reclaim her not-so-ancient Greek - go girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteJust realised I didnt put e-mail address on post -sorry. At least you moderate first!
